How each service works

Every animal sold through KALRO Naivasha is drawn from research-monitored breeding lines with documented parentage, growth records and, where applicable, milk performance data. Our team helps you select stock based on your farming goal, regional climate and herd size — the same logic behind our Breed Advisor tool. Sales include a written health and vaccination record, and a 14-day post-sale support window for husbandry questions.

We coordinate livestock transport across Kenya using vehicles fitted for animal welfare, with rest stops planned for longer routes. Delivery timelines are agreed at the point of sale, and every consignment travels with a movement permit and veterinary health certificate. Local delivery within Nakuru County is typically available within 48 hours of confirmed payment.

Our on-farm processing unit pasteurises and packages milk produced at the research station, supplying local retailers and cooperatives. Partner farms that purchase breeding stock from us can also enquire about bulk milk off-take arrangements once their herd reaches production stage.

Our veterinary and extension officers are available for on-call consultation covering nutrition, breeding management, and disease prevention. We also offer scheduled farm visits for buyers transitioning to a new breed, helping set up housing, feeding regimes and vaccination calendars suited to local conditions.
